How do I change where my reports are downloaded to

HRLocker has downloadable excel reports. These are downloaded to either your local machine, or the cloud, depending on your own organisation's security settings, or your browser's preferences

HRLocker does not decide where your files are downloaded to, on your local device or cloud drives. This is usually a browser level setting. (or it may be controlled by your IT team for data loss prevention)

Please check with your IT team, and if they say it's not controlled by a security policy, then here are the instructions for how to change this depending on which browser you use.

For Windows:

1. Microsoft Edge:

  • Open Edge and click the three-dot menu in the top right.

  • Go to Settings > Downloads.

  • Under Location, click Change and select your Downloads folder (usually C:\Users\YourUsername\Downloads).

  • Ensure Ask me what to do with each download is enabled if you want to confirm each download location individually.

2. Google Chrome:

  • Open Chrome and click the three-dot menu in the top right.

  • Go to Settings > Downloads.

  • Under Location, click Change and select your Downloads folder.

  • Toggle on Ask where to save each file before downloading if you want to manually select each time.

3. Firefox:

  • Open Firefox and click the three-line menu in the top right.

  • Go to Settings > General.

  • In the Downloads section, select Save files to and choose your Downloads folder.

  • Alternatively, select Always ask you where to save files for more control.

For Mac:

1. Safari:

  • Open Safari and go to Safari > Settings in the top menu.

  • Click on General and locate File download location.

  • Select Downloads from the drop-down list to ensure files download locally.

2. Google Chrome:

  • Open Chrome and click the three-dot menu in the top right.

  • Go to Settings > Downloads.

  • Under Location, click Change and select your Downloads folder.

  • Enable Ask where to save each file before downloading if you want to choose each time.

3. Firefox:

  • Open Firefox and click the three-line menu in the top right.

  • Go to Settings > General.

  • In the Downloads section, select Save files to and choose your Downloads folder.

  • Alternatively, select Always ask you where to save files to choose manually for each download.

Additional Tips:

  1. OneDrive on Windows:

    • If OneDrive is syncing your Downloads folder, right-click the OneDrive icon in the taskbar.

    • Go to Settings > Account and select Choose folders.

    • Deselect Downloads to prevent it from syncing to OneDrive.

  2. Mac with iCloud Drive:

    • Open System Settings > Apple ID > iCloud.

    • Select Options next to iCloud Drive.

    • Uncheck Desktop & Documents Folders to prevent iCloud from syncing these locations.
